@jon_severs In the email from @bphillipsonMP today she says "The average teacher salary is over £51,000 in the current academic year." So the 'average' teacher is already on UPS3? Do you have any details on how this was calculated?
The outcomes you focus on are wrong, and there remains woefully inadequate contect given to other outcomes that school attain despiote lack of support and funding.
First, it’s worth being clear: we think outcomes matter. We aren’t trying to create a pseudo-contextual valued added measure. We think that bakes in low expectations.
Holding the opposite view to us is entirely legitimate. We just don’t agree.
As Martyn said:
If you want to create a positive school culture where your pupils belong and thrive put staff first. If your staff don’t feel happy at work, are overloaded and unsupported then they won’t do their job to the best of their ability.
I’ve been away for a bit. We haven’t been having the best time, to be honest. I’ve noticed a few things happening with Ofsted and their supporters recently, and I’ve written about it.
Ofsted, of course, are driving on regardless.

Personally I believe its quite clear that @Ofsted is even worse than it was - a danger to the profession. Spielman was a disgrace and did untold damge, her successor saw this, listened to a select few and when told he could only do better simply said "Hold my beer."
Few people seem to know that DfE has a separate office to scrutinise admission arrangements - the Office of the Schools Adjudicator - so it would be double jeopardy for schools unless the adjudicator was folded into Ofsted
@Rory_Gribbell@grahamchatterl2 Arrogant, self-serving bullies, all of you. You have zero idea what it's like to be a school leader these days, nor do you care. Your time is up, we've had enough.
Rory is a significant part of the problem and the quicker Martyn Oliver and Ofsted realise this the better. He's toxic, out of his depth and doing real harm.
As Director of Engagement at Ofsted, I find your tone and combative responses concerning, @Rory_Gribbell.
No school leader I’ve worked with avoids accountability — we welcome constructive support.
Your comments offer neither. Ofsted has heard what it wants to hear.
@Rory_Gribbell For someone responsible for Engagement, this is quite staggering & in terrible taste. You come across as a bully. Why are you so committed to maintaining the ‘them & us’ narrative? Perhaps the problem with Ofsted really changing isn’t Ofsted itself… perhaps it’s you.
@adamboxer1 You have no idea that you’re one of ‘those’ lads, do you? You come across as quite the know-it-all and are part of the problem. You love a bit of confrontation, you all do.
