After spending a great weekend on the road, I have one thing to share:
I want players who COMPETE at every point of the game, including warmups. I will not recruit players that are “taking plays off” or watching the ball hit the floor without laying out for it.
We want DOGS!
The athlete who waits to care until the season starts has already given someone else a head start. The offseason rewards the ones who understand that preparation matters before the opportunity arrives.
Parents: If your child can't find 30 mins outside team practice to work on their game daily, then they're just interested in success and they're not really committed.
Which is OK.
Just help them find the thing/sport they are interested in and will commit too.
COACHES: The title "Coach” is a privilege. You have both a great opportunity and responsibility. Don't ever take it for granted. With great power comes great responsibility. You have an amazing opportunity to influence so many people. Be a positive leader. Stay encouraged.
Your team is watching everything you do.
