@lucasvaugh91298@MAGAVoice It's the fact that we've gone so far off the deep end that he has to put himself in danger just to report it. In a normal case, this should never deserve the honor. But given the circumstances, it's a considerable act.
@MySportsUpdate It's the right decision for the wrong reason. The receiving team can choose a 5-yard penalty and re-kick for kicking it out of bounds, so no choice but to try to go through the endzone. I assumed that was the reason, surprised to hear this from the coach
Merit based pay needs to happen, no question.
But tying it to student performance has so many issues. In addition to the points you mention, some students will never see much improvement in raw test scores - there needs to be some way to account for that.
And we already have too much "teach for the test" mentality in schools, basing it on test scores will make that even worse.
I agree that the system is screwed up - there is no incentive to be a great teacher. But basing it on student performance will only make it worse. The students themselves & their home life make such a difference that it would just become a fight to get a job in the right area with the right students. No good teacher would want to take on the challenges of lower performing students
