(1/3) Last week, the Fusion Energy APPG hosted a parliamentary roundtable on Making the UK an Attractive Destination for Foreign Investment into Fusion Energy, bringing together industry leaders and policymakers to discuss the UK's role in the global race to commercialise fusion.

The UK is strengthening its global leadership in fusion through international collaboration.

The UKAEA and Japan’s QST have signed a new Memorandum of Cooperation, deepening UK–Japan ties to drive joint R&D, skills development and innovation.

(2/2) The session underscored STEP’s role in driving jobs and supply chain growth, accelerating progress towards commercialisation of fusion energy, and bringing together industry with regional and national partners.

(1/2) At the UK R&D Investment Summit, STEP Fusion was highlighted by Lord Vallance and Mayor Claire Ward as a key driver of economic growth in the East Midlands. An EMCCA-hosted session examined STEP’s role as both a nationally significant programme and a regional growth engine.

3/3 We also heard from Edward Lewis‑Smith on UKAEA’s 2026–2030 fusion roadmap, and Paul Methven who outlined UK Fusion Energy’s strategy and how UKFE will act as the national fusion systems integrator to deliver STEP Fusion at West Burton.
