I’m not political, but here’s my take from the debate: It is *astonishing* how deliberately and cynically we have been lied to by our political leaders, and how utterly untrustworthy they are. Which drives home how vital it is to constrain their power in every conceivable way.
The rise of Graham Platner has its roots in the left’s disdain for average Americans. They think the average voter is trash, so it logically follows, in their way of thinking, that if Democrats just nominate a scumbag, he’ll appeal to the people they disdain but pretend to love.
Everyone shouts "Tax the Rich"... but look at the facts.
A $150k earner pays around $30,600 in federal tax.
A $25k earner pays about $1,200.
It takes 25 people on $25k to contribute what one person on $150k does.
So why drive high earners out of the U.S. when they already shoulder most of the burden?
The problem isn't how much tax is collected.
The problem is how much the government wastes.
Stop blaming the rich.
Start holding the government to account.
Talarico: "They're going to dig up all kinds of old statements, take them out of context and try to paint them in the worst possible light."
Translation: I’m going to try to distance myself from my own words and beliefs so I can pretend to be a moderate until after I’m elected.

Gonna try to explain this to tech CEOs again: Young Americans are pissed. They feel betrayed. Half have embraced the far right & want to cut off your access to cheap foreign labor. The other half have embraced the far left & want to cut off your head. One side will win. Choose.
I’m 24.

Romney’s loss was probably more significant than you’d think. Not because Romney was special, no one liked him, but he was a completely milquetoast candidate and he still had the dirtiest accusations hurled at him of sexism, Nazism etc
Voters finally noticed
