@Welsh_Dragon_71 @alex_jd29 @Gwlad_Gwlad Put it this way...
Plaid: founded 1925, first MP 1966 -> 41 years
SNP: founded 1928, first MP 1967 -> 39 years
Greens: founded 1972, first MP 2010 -> 38 years
UKIP/Reform: founded 1991 -> 34 years
See a pattern? Gwlad are barely getting started.
An excerpt from "A Week in Future Wales" about a debate in the Senedd on the topic of immigration... written in 1957 and set in 2033:
[Note the "every person of Welsh descent in any country of the British Commonwealth"...]
In Dr. Heinkel's words... "Anything is possible. The Wales of 2033... depends on you. A German like me cannot help you. The English can't stop you. You Welsh, you alone, must make the choice".
On the 21st of October, 2025, it will be the 60th anniversary of the drowning of Tryweryn. It is incredibly important that all sections of the national movement converge at Tryweryn to commemorate the community that was lost.
An excerpt from the second half of "A Week in Future Wales" - the translation of "Wythnos yng Nghymru Fydd", written in 1957 and set in 2033.
Terrifyingly prescient.
If you're learning Welsh, buy it and read it side-by-side with the English version.
It's written in proper, literary, idiomatic Welsh - not the 'bratiaith' which so much of the media churns out. It will improve your Welsh no end. And you get to read a fantastic story as a bonus.
@IWA_Wales@BylinesCymru [In particular, the driving of Welsh farmers off their land to be replaced by foreign-owned forestry, with the consequent destruction of rural communities. The professed reasons may be different, but the outcome is the same.]
@IWA_Wales@BylinesCymru Don't forget that a much more imminent pair of utopian/dystopian visions of Wales in 2033 was written as long ago as 1957.
It's interesting to compare them with the reality. Some aspects of the dystopian vision are frighteningly accurate.

Chwarae teg, dydy'r enw dim yn ffôl; ond oni fyddai 'Atomodur' yn ganwaith gwell, tasen ni ddim yn chwarae o gwmpas gyda melinau gwynt ac yn y blaen a defnyddio tarddiadau trydan dibynadwy yn eu lle?
Heddiw lansiodd @trydanicymru rwydwaith clwb ceir trydan sy'n helpu i sefydlu clybiau newydd mewn cymunedau gwledig

@NationCymru Very good! And don't forget that the translation of his other groundbreaking novel, "Wythnos yng Nghymru Fydd", is also available.

@AlexxMumford@Gwlad_Gwlad But I've always thought that this passage from Islwyn Ffowc Elis's @FutureWales2033 gives a very good vision of how things ought, ideally, to be.
