So if Chicago is dead last for housing construction among large cities, is this a good time to pass a new ordinance that harasses landlords, adds costs to every lease, and puts Chicago back in the national headlines for the wrong reason? Of course not.

And as an anecdote, my partner and I got pitched to co-GP a Class A+ apartment development in the West Loop. This is an ominous sign. We are not developers and we don’t swim in waters that deep.

If guys like me are getting pitched deals like that, this is a sign that Capital is largely avoiding Chicago. Dead last is the result of that.
