The @nyccouncil approved a resolution urging the State Legislature to pass the Clean Slate Act. We stood with advocates and our state partners in support of sealing past conviction records that block 2.3M New Yorkers from accessing housing, jobs, and educational opportunities.
The Clean Slate Act will seal records, helping formerly incarcerated folks get access to jobs & housing.
Unions, businesses, & advocates are all on board because it will reduce recidivism and the cycle of perpetual punishment. It's time our legislators in Albany get it done.
