Escrow That Actually Escrows
The core of FCTC's design is its default payment model: native XRPL escrow. When a buyer purchases a listed card, their payment doesn't route through a platform-held account. It locks directly to the seller's own wallet via an on-chain `EscrowCreate` transaction, gated by a cryptographic condition the platform can reveal (to release funds) or withhold (to force a refund), but never spend on its own. The platform is a switch, not a vault.
This matters because of what it removes: the platform itself never custodies escrow-mode funds. There's no scenario where a company decision, a bug, or bad-faith behavior on the platform's part can result in someone's payment simply vanishing into a corporate account. The money moves once, directly, when the deal is genuinely done.
Not every seller has a wallet connected yet, so a custodial fallback path exists for edge cases but the platform's own listing creation flow already refuses to let a new listing exist without a connected payout address, meaning that fallback is, in practice, dead code for anything created going forward. The system is designed to make the trust-minimized path the only real path.

Building Trust in the Card-Trading Marketplace
Anyone who has bought or sold a trading card online has felt the low-grade anxiety that comes with it. As a buyer, you send money to a stranger and hope the card that arrives matches the listing photos and the seller's description of its condition. As a seller, you ship a physical card, often irreplaceable, and hope the payment behind it actually holds up.
The traditional fix is a platform that sits in the middle, holding everyone's money in custody until the deal completes. It works, but it comes with real costs: the platform becomes a single point of failure, takes a cut for the privilege of being that middleman, and as more than one collector has learned the hard way occasionally fails, freezes funds, or simply becomes a company you have to trust with your money for a period of time you don't control.
Fuzzy Card Trading Co (FCTC) a marketplace for the Fuzzy TCG and broader ecosystem, sets out to solve this differently: by using the XRP Ledger's native capabilities to make trust a property of the transaction itself, not a promise from the company running the marketplace.
