Separatist Leader Jefferey Rath has had his assets frozen by the courts as a result of ongoing legal proceedings involving Tallcree First Nations on allegations he moved $8.5 million from a Tallcree trust to his private corporation.

If Private Investors Won't Invest...Why Should Taxpayers?
I'm strongly in favour of exporting more Alberta oil. As Alberta's former Energy Minister, I believe we should build the right projects for the right reasons.
But these new pipeline proposals, together with a proposed $65-billion carbon capture project, raise serious questions.
If the economics are sound, where are the private investors?
The proposed northern pipeline alone is estimated to cost between $70 billion and $100 billion.
If governments borrow roughly $150 billion to build these projects, billions of dollars in interest payments would come before Albertans ever see a return – if at all.
Supporting Alberta's energy industry doesn't mean saying yes to every project.
It means saying yes to projects that make economic sense, protect taxpayers, and deliver real value for Albertans.
Good governments do the homework before they ask Albertans to pay the bill.

Here’s what Dani had to say about increased demands on Alberta’s power grid, way back in Dec. 2023.
“It’s also deeply concerning that Ottawa is trying to force increased demands on the electricity grid.”

Danielle Smith is forging ahead with an anti-immigrant / refugee / TFW referendum because it pleases her political base.
Yet on May 27, 2024 she admonished PM Trudeau for not sending to Alberta more immigrants / refugees and TFWs.
Opportunism doesn’t age well.

I was very happy to sit down with the Prime Minister on the last morning of Stampede. Between flipping pancakes, we spoke about Alberta, building the economy and jobs, health care, and the disastrous impacts of the referendum.
Thank you for taking the time, Prime Minister, and for a thoughtful conversation as always.

Allegedly a judge just froze a separatist leaders assets frozen out of concern that they might try and sell everything to avoid legal damages that they owe!

Alberta Environment
For the record - our earlier addendum gave Smith's team credit on the cooling-water claim - if the dry-cooling tech really uses no water for cooling, that's fair.
This is different.
This is total project water use, not cooling specifically, and it wasn't disclosed anywhere.
We have numbers now.
They undercut the "no water use" framing.
According to a project document excerpted by @TheBreakdownAB (Section 9.2.3, Water Supply).
The power plant supporting the Meta data centre requires an estimated 1.25 million litres of water per day, sourced through Sturgeon County's municipal supply.
For context?
Sturgeon County currently uses 1.1 million litres/day municipally.
This project would roughly double local water demand.
Separately?
Alberta Federation of Labour president Gil McGowan flagged (via https://t.co/JaicQf4uT2) that Meta may draw power equivalent to the City of Edmonton for up to two years before its own plant is even running.
Again, without public consultation.

Ask for -
1) Confirmation of this 1.25 million litre/day water figure.
Is it accurate, and has a water licence been filed?
2) Whether this was factored into any public disclosure.
It wasn't in the government release or press conference.
3) Confirmation of interim grid power draw before Greenlight comes online, and why no public consultation occurred.
Be well. Be loud. Be love.

If you're being paid to influence a major City decision, Calgarians deserve to know. Calgary has grown up as a city, and it's time our transparency rules caught up. That's why, with Councillors Atkinson, Clark, and Schmidt, we are bringing forward a motion to pursue a lobbyist registry.
Last week, a right wing content creator took a clip out of context, misrepresented it & openly lied about the person in it.
But this is the behaviour right wing politicians reward.
All while claiming a core value of "faith"
Last night, we got into it.
