The 154th Open 🏌🏻is off to a flying drive, with a fantastic atmosphere among fans heading to the event.

Our #ProjectServator officers are deployed in and around @royalbirkdale, so if you are heading to the event in the coming days, don't be surprised if you see patrols during your journey. A strong partnership for an event like this is par for the course, and we're working closely with the club, The R&A and @G4S to ensure it's a safe and enjoyable event for all.

At the course, officers were delighted to meet Diesel and Charlie – specialist detection dogs who form part of the G4S security team. This clever father-and-son duo are certainly top of our leaderboard 🐾.

Project Servator deployments consist of uniformed and plain-clothes officers who are specially trained to spot tell-tale signs that someone may be gathering information to help them plan or prepare to commit a crime. During deployments, officers will also speak with members of the public and security staff to encourage vigilance and the reporting of suspicious activity. And that's exactly what one concerned member of the public did, and acting on that report of suspicious activity, officers didn't miss the cut and successfully put a suspected drug dealer out of play. One male arrested on suspicion of Possession with Intent to Supply a Class B controlled drug.
