#COP25 takes place at a crucial historical juncture. 2020 is quite literally around the corner. This is the year in which Parties’ pre-2020 actions under the Convention are supposed to conclude and lay the foundation for future climate actions for Parties to the Paris Agreement”.
Support for adaptation actions in developing countries, as well as support for enhanced action on addressing loss and damage, will be increasingly crucial for developing countries as the adverse effects of climate change scale up in the future.

G77 & China: Another relevant agenda item under this session is reporting and review of Annex I Parties, the group of 77 and China sees with great concern that countries still did not submit their 7th National Communication and their 3rd Biennial Report under the Convention.
In addition, the lack of consolidated data of Annex I Parties creates great difficulties to understand the speed and deepness of Annex I Parties implementation of their 2020 commitments adopted on mitigation and provision of means of implementation by 2020.
G77 and China speaking for developing countries highlights problem with Global Environmental Facility for preventing access to funding of some developing countries who are eligible for funding from the GEF to fulfil their convention commitments.

Developing countries call out developed country parties for significant gaps with respect to their actions on mitigation, adaptation and means of implementation, as well as reporting of their climate actions.

G77 & China held coordination meeting this morning, discussed finance, transparency & reporting, gender & climate, article 6 & pre 2020 stock take & other issues. Efforts & competence of the Group's coordinators will lead to a successful outcome of #COP25

G77 Chair Palestine calls out the cynicism shown by major partners towards multilateralism and the international rules-based order as a whole as a serious challenge that could undermine collective efforts and interests in addressing climate change.
