You conveniently listed Arsenal’s attacking midfielder to inflate their options while ignoring the actual midfield options Chelsea have. Arsenal also play with more CMs than we do, so the comparison is already flawed.

And Arsenal have Champions League football. We don’t. Obviously, they need greater depth because they have more competitions to navigate and they have that depth.

But the “players I don’t fully trust long-term” argument is especially ridiculous when we’re talking about THIS Sunday.

Fine, you don’t trust some of these players long-term. January is literally not far away. But are you seriously saying you don’t trust a fit Lavia or a fit Reece James to play midfield against Arsenal?

Reece James literally bossed that midfield against Arsenal last season. A fit Lavia is also more than capable of competing in this game.

So what exactly is the problem? We have enough quality in midfield to compete with Arsenal on Sunday. Whether we perform well enough to beat them is a different conversation.

Arsenal are the better team right now. That’s obvious. But constantly creating these toothless narratives about our squad doesn’t suddenly make the argument more credible.

And please, can we stop turning every squad discussion into another excuse to push an agenda against the owners? Criticise them where it’s deserved, but this particular argument doesn’t hold up.

The owners have shown they have learnt from their mistakes, one missed deal does not rule out a FANTASTIC transfer window.
