Yes, I know, I know... but hear me out!

A photo of Kim Kardashian alerted Egyptian officials to the location of the missing 2,100+ years old sarcophagus of Nedjemankh that was looted during the 2011 Egyptian revolution and smuggled out of Egypt.

It was sold with forged export documents, and later acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, where it appeared in the 2018 exhibition “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” which ran concurrently with the Met Gala, where Kim wore a shimmering gold Versace gown.

So Kim paired her dress with the shimmering golden sarcophagus, and the photo prompted Egyptian authorities to investigate its provenance.

Of the sarcophagus, not the dress 😂

And voilà, the investigation revealed the coffin had been illegally exported, and in 2019, the Met returned the sarcophagus to Egypt, acknowledging it had been misled by forged documents.

Now, I’m not sure if this was the photo or another one— but either way, it turns out Kim did something good, even if indirectly.
