Don't give up on your dreams or goals! You never know how close you are. The only way you fail is if you quit! Even if you fall short, you can learn something valuable in your pursuit that you can utilize in your next endeavor.

Years ago at Stanford University's basketball camp!
If you're passionate about becoming a student-athlete at a specific college or university, I recommend participating in that school's summer camp.
Doing so is a great way to get on the coach's radar!

In addition to competing in exposure tournaments and camps during the summer, devote a minimum of 30 minutes each day to either study for the PSAT, SAT, or ACT or improve on a subject that you struggle with.
"Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out."
In order to maximize your performance, you must be mindful of the foods that you consume. Limit your intake of unhealthy junk food. Instead, eat lean meat (baked skinless chicken), omega-rich fish (salmon), and a wide variety of fruits and vegetables.

When you arrive at college as a freshman student-athlete, you will be surrounded by smart classmates and athletes who are stronger, more athletic, and more experienced. In this environment, it is easy to let "Imposter Syndrome" creep in. Remember, you belong!

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take! Don't miss out on opportunities because of a fear of failing. No one is perfect, and failure is inevitable. However, your response to failure can dictate whether you succeed in the future. Having grit will increase your odds of success!
Wise words from Jalen Williams, the current small forward for the Oklahoma City Thunder. βGo where youβre wanted and needed.β Keep this advice in mind when deciding on which college to attend!

I had a great time yesterday revisiting my old middle school, Word of Life Christian Academy, and speaking with its Fellowship of Christian Athletes about how to earn athletic scholarships from colleges and universities!

As we embark on Black History Month, I want to share a quote that resonates with me:
βSuccess is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed.β β Booker T. Washington

Making New Year's resolutions is great and all; however, your attempts will be futile if you do not stay consistent! Stay the course by being consistent in your thoughts, words, and actions and hold yourself accountable!

No matter where you're competing, always be a great teammate and give max effort! Playing well in a high school game in Yuma, Arizona (the middle of nowhere) led me to play for the @Compton_Magic, an AAU basketball team that helped me land several full-ride athletic scholarships.
Public Service Announcement for all aspiring collegiate student-athletes π£
DO NOT get caught up in the rankings of you and your peers in your sport. Block out the noise and continue striving to perfect your craft!

The PSAT 8/9 and PSAT 10 assess your reading, writing, and math skills and are for 8th, 9th, and 10th graders. By taking these exams, you can identify academic strengths/weaknesses early in high school when there is ample time to improve before taking the PSAT and SAT.

With the middle and high school basketball season on the horizon, focus on what you can control: your attitude, effort, and energy! Also, there are several ways to earn minutes on the court other than just scoring, such as playing hard defense.
