@R_o_M @jonnyescott Its not just the player though is it? Its the baggage associated with them. Mainoo may or may not be a fine player but is his family baggage worth the risk when he inevitably spends time on the bench. Any manager needs to take that into consideration.

Ruud did before joining United. PSV argued it and he ended up blowing out his knee I thing a few days or weeks later and missing most/if not all that season before signing for United the next year

@UnitedStandMUFC The high wages were an issue but if you look at what we spent on Onana and his wages since, are we better off? Should have negotiated a lower salary, kept the better shot stopper and signed a young keeper that transitions the play the way the coaches wanted (rumours of suzuki?)

@Phil_MUFCUtd @UTDKara Or maybe because no transfer window and Glazers? Im confident Amorim will move off of Onana. I honestly cant remember Bosnich making mistakes as bad as Onana. Was he good, no. He could save the occasional shot though which is more than Onana can it seems.

@Phil_MUFCUtd @UTDKara Taibi played a couple of games so judging him as worse is harsh. Vidic was shit for his first few months but became one of our best CBs of the premiership era. Onana has had 2yrs and has been terrible in both. Id say hands down our worst keeper, but he has no hands 🤷‍♂️
