@AreOhEssEyeEe It kind of makes sense though, opium was one of the constituents of Laudanum and the opium poppies grew in India, among other countries. Opium was looked at differently then than now, and trade was trade.
Fun fact: The other constituent of Laudanum was alcohol.

@Martyupnorth No. when I was small (early 70's) we were going to take the train from Edmonton to Calgary but were told that there was no room for us because they had to keep some seats open for people getting on in Red Deer. So we drove.
