Last week, several undergraduate students from our group completed their honors thesis defenses. Congratulations to Celeste, Justin, Melody, and Kayla on this milestone! We are so proud of your hard work and wish you all the best in your next chapter!
Check out our latest work on @J_A_C_S : a ligand-controlled enantioconvergent homologation enables efficient access to chiral tertiary alkyl boronates. Congratulations to @MiaoChen1997, @AnkiZXXu and Coco!

Last week, Cole successfully defended his PhD!
He will be starting his postdoc at Northwestern University.
Congratulations, Dr. Wagner! Wishing you all the best in the future!
Our recent work on aliphatic CO-to-N atom swap enabled by NAHA chemistry, now online in @ScienceMagazine ! Congratulations to Zining, Zhehan and @RongYehhh !

Check out our recent work on unstrained C–C activation!
We report a site-selective C-demethylation of phenols and anilines enabled by a removable mono-directing group.
Congrats to Yibin, @KaliusLY , Linda, and @CongjunY !

By merging this method with carbonyl migration and established C–H oxidation chemistry, we are now able to apply nitrogen scanning in saturated systems!
Check out our recent work on aliphatic C-to-N atom swap enabled by NAHA chemistry! This strategy enables access to diverse saturated N-heterocycles from cyclic ketones or cyclic alkanes. See: https://t.co/k9fPrEJdV8
This weekend, we had a wonderful Christmas & New Year party with our group!
Many thanks to Guangbin for hosting and bringing everyone together. Wishing the Dong group a joyful holiday season and a great year ahead!
Last Saturday, our PCE Center team joined the South Side Science Festival at UChicago — an inspiring day of outreach and community engagement! We shared ideas about sustainable chemistry and connected with the local community.
Meanwhile, we warmly welcome 2 new members, Byungjun Kim @Bjkim_Orgchem (postdoc) and Masanori Hirao (visiting scholar from Mitsui Chemicals) to the group! 🎉
Last week, we held a farewell party for our postdoc Yin Xu, who has made important contributions to C–H activation chemistry. He will soon start his independent career at Zhejiang University of Technology — we wish him all the best!
Check out our latest work in @NatureChemistry !
We developed a platform using 1,2-oxaborines to construct a broad range of aromatic and non-aromatic cores from common enone/enal precursors.
Congratulations to Yao and the team!

Enabled by our NAHA reagent, we developed a new deacylative polyfluoroarylation of alkyl methyl ketones with broad functional-group tolerance. Now online in Org. Lett.! @JOC_OL Congratulations to Sohee and Ching-Nung!
https://t.co/9sbVxEIRno
Developed by @KaliusLY & @zhangrchem, we expand our cut-and-sew chemistry to β-lactams, enabling access to diverse bridged & fused N-heterocycles. Now online in @J_A_C_S! Congratulations to the team!

Check out our recent @NatureCatalysis work on ruthenium-catalysed site-selective arene saturation—turning flat arenes into 3D sp³ frameworks!
👏Congrats to @CongjunY and the team!

Congratulations to Xin (@XinLiu14010834) and all co-authors!
Last weekend, we had a wonderful farewell party for Congjun (@CongjunY) and Miao (@MiaoChen1997) at Guangbin’s home.
Congjun will join CU Boulder as a tenure-track Assistant Professor, and Miao will be starting at Merck as a Senior Scientist.
Wishing them both the best of luck!
