Artist Corrie McCallum (1914-2009) is featured along with Jasper Johns and Grainger McKoy in the GCMA's newest exhibition, opening today, "Art and Artists of South Carolina: Three Mighty Gamecocks-- Straight Outta Sumter."

Beauford Delaney (1901-1979) was a Harlem Renaissance painter known for his colorful Modernist compositions and distinctive approach to figure painting. His affection for NYC is apparent in "Washington Square." [1952, oil on canvas] On view now.

Closing on Sunday, September 15, this 2024 Art for Greenville installation has focused on the artist’s work that was painted over four decades of traveling along the coast—from Charleston to Hilton Head Island.

Horace Day (1909-1984) found endless appeal in the marshlands, sandhills, live oaks, and Spanish moss of coastal South Carolina. "Horace Day in the Lowcountry" is on view through September 15.
In 2011, the GCMA exhibited watercolorist Mary Whyte's (b. 1953) "Working South." The collection captured the essence of vanishing blue-collar professions from across ten states in the American South with sensitivity and reverence for her subjects.
