With diplomas in hand, here’s some advice for new college grads: Be patient. Appreciate the journey. Learn to budget and save money. Too many young people want right now what it took their parents a lifetime to earn.
The single trait that separates elite athletes and sports participants is effort. Exhibiting effort, even when you are exhausted, requires a love for the team and for the game. When you add RELENTLESS EFFORT to talent - Champions are created.
Don’t say you wanna excel at something if you’re not committed to your craft. Track will shine light on the obscured backstage: the blood, sweat and tear, or the lack thereof. If you’re not working, it’ll show, trust.
Your inner circle should include people you trust, people you respect and people of varying ages, backgrounds and life experiences.
It should also include people who:
- Tell you the truth
- Hold you accountable
- Are supportive
- Challenge you
- Want to see you happy
“We will begin by learning how to tie our shoes.” - John Wooden
Teams that emphasize details, like properly tying a shoe or tucking in a shirt, know there are truly no details, because it ALL matters.
