@jonathan_gblt@camcitco Hi Jonathan, our local plan timetable already sets a positive programme for bringing the plan forward. The timetable can be viewed on our website here: https://t.co/izarNw7Xj4
Following today’s High Court hearing, a year-long injunction has been granted to prevent further unauthorised development at land west of Moor Drove, Histon
We will now ensure the Court’s directions are implemented
This follows swift action by our @GCSP_Planning Compliance team, who first secured an interim injunction over the bank holiday weekend

We’ve raised serious concerns about the government’s plans for a Greater Cambridge Urban development corporation 🏗️
Although details remain unclear, last night's government decision is expected to remove many developments - currently shaped through local plans and community engagement - from local decision-making, creating the largest development corporation of its type
Our councillors are arguing the shift from locally elected authorities to a central government body is wholly unnecessary 🗳️

⚖️ We have been granted a High Court injunction against persons unknown for land West of Moor Drove in Cottenham to prevent works continuing on the site.

Great news for local groups aiming to take climate and nature action across South Cambridgeshire 🌱⚡
This year, our Zero Carbon Communities grants will offer up to £19,500 per project - a significant increase designed to help organisations deliver bigger, more impactful initiatives.
We’re also widening eligibility so even more groups can benefit. Applications will be open to:

✅ Sports groups (such as bowls clubs) that support community wellbeing
✅ Groups looking to install electric vehicle charging points
✅ Community organisations working on carbon reduction, nature recovery or engagement projects
In total, £152,000 will be available - half supporting carbon reduction and half supporting community engagement and nature, reflecting our new Climate and Nature Strategy.
🗓 Applications open 25 May 2026 and close 24 July 2026.
💬 Free online workshops for potential applicants: 20 May (12:30 to 1:30pm and 6 to 7pm).

📰 Read about the @SouthCambs Extraordinary Full Council meeting last night which featured discussions on Government proposals for a Development Corporation for Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire
@camcitco will hold similar discussions tomorrow evening
Councillors last night discussed their strong opposition to Government plans for a new Development Corporation for Greater Cambridge. They raised concerns about shifting major planning powers away from locally elected councils and the impact this could have on community involvement 🏘️🤝
With many new homes and jobs already in the pipeline, Councillors highlighted that the biggest challenges are funding and delivering transport, utilities and other essential infrastructure - areas where closer partnership with Government would help most 🚌💡🚰
Greater Cambridge already has an award‑winning planning service too - @GCSP_Planning - which is the current National Planning Authority of the Year as named at November's prestigious Royal Town Planning Institute Awards for Planning Excellence
The Government’s consultation runs until 1 April 2026. Residents are encouraged to review the proposals and share their views 💬

@richwilliams771 and the tenants living there. However, based on experiences elsewhere we do not expect tenants to notice any significant difference to their daily routines – apart from saving money on their water bill. We'll be writing to tenants with further details soon.
