@Coach_JayGruden was a good sport and joined Doug and Me on @TBDACS. We asked him an array of questions, including this one of Jayden Daniels.
Full Episode will be posted shortly.

This is a good summary of Matt Maiocco's podcast from @Coach_Yac.
Maiocco is an established insider and was recently on The John Keim Report.
I need to catch the podcast to gather full context. But some good nuggets in Yac's post below.
My two cents:
1. Insiders have sources and communicate with staff members in the building. But they're also paid to elaborate on their thoughts based off of intuition. So don't take all information as "gospel"
2. I agree that the Aiyuk situation is being monitored by WSH, and this may not be a slam dunk addition. They may be getting soured on the way this is being handled. I do believe there is mutual respect with Peters and SF.
3. I disagree with Aiyuk's desire to "not want to play" football. It appears he truly wants to get out there. I'd also imagine that SOME team will take a chance on him. Even as a camp body. Many NFL players have done much worse.
If you have talent, the league tends to turn a blind eye.
I think the most realistic scenario is Aiyuk will play in WSH this season, or have to sit out this year as the issue settles.
Matt Maiocco had some interesting quotes on his latest podcast about Brandon Aiyuk:
• “The 49ers have an incredible opening to go after the money they already paid Brandon. I don’t know the exact numbers that they will be able to get back, but I would put it somewhere between $13.8M and $18.4M. Whatever it may be, the 49ers are certainly going after that money.”
• “He’s talking about the day the 49ers release him, he’ll be signing with the Commanders the next day. I just can’t imagine them going all in for Brandon and for him to say he will sign with the Commanders, is he just speculating because one of his very good friends, Jayden Daniels, is the quarterback of the Commanders? I don’t know. I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility or out of the question that Brandon Aiyuk has played his final NFL game.”
• “I recall two years ago when they were going through this contract negotiation, there were people within the organization who thought that Brandon Aiyuk didn’t want to play football anymore because the 49ers had given him an offer, he sat on it and didn’t get back to them and the relationship really seemed to be fractured at that point where the 49ers really weren’t sure where Brandon Aiyuk’s mind was and where his urgency was.”
@RandomDCathlete I keep hearing that. I guess i dont follow the hockey jersey ranking charts.
I imagine they go around every so often like the NFL.
The Caps alts are sick. Maybe the base jerseys are outdated. 🤔
They shouldn't touch the Caps gear though. Their collection is the best in DC sports top to bottom.
And im not really a hockey guy.
But their collection is fire. Black, white, retros, screaming eagles. All fire.
In my Opinion,
I believe the Washington Wizards AND Washington Capitals will receive new uniforms next year for the fall 2027-28 season to match the new Capital One Arena with final renovations taking place Summer of 2027.
Similar to the LA Clippers when they opened with Intuit Dome, I’d like to think Monumental Sports & Entertainment would love to change up the jerseys that both teams have had since 2007(Caps) & 2011(wizards)
I think this a fair critique by @billbarnwell.
Although we are optimistic locally, nationally the room is perceived to have a lot of question marks.
Which is fair.
The expectation is that Daniels will, and can, elevate.
But I'm hopeful in future seasons he doesn't have to.
Tom Brady is the GOAT. That's understood.
But comparing him to year three Jayden is a little unfair.
Brady walked onto a veteran-laden team with Tedy Bruschi, Ty Law, Lawyer Milloy, Richard Seymour and Rodney Harrison. And the coach that developed Lawrence Taylor.
And as mentioned before, he was surrounded by multiple Hall of Famers. Regardless if they won a Super Bowl of not.
I wish we had prime Mike Evans, Corey Dillon, and Randy Moss on the team lol.
@discoque92@billbarnwell Not a fair comparison. Hall of fame coach. Elite defenses. Typically a very strong run game.
Hall of Fame Tight End. Randy Moss.
Edelman and Welker.
@Gcarmi21 I don't think people fully realize how he can destroy the over the middle passing game as a 6'5 super athletic LB. Trying to make tight window throws over his outstretched frame should produce tips, overthrows and interceptions. Couple his ability w/ a improved pass rush
I feel like as get to know Sonny Styles more and more, the happier we will be with that pick.
- Elite Athlete ✅️
- Great Work Ethic ✅️
- Immediate Leadership Skills ✅️
- Played in Big Time Games ✅️
Plus the upside of only being 21 years old and "new" to the position.
Honest Question, and I'd love some respectful dialogue/feedback...
Why do we assume that Adam Peters is siding with Brandon Aiyuk in this situation?
Peters and Shanahan are reportedly very close, and their relationship goes back to 2017. When they both arrived in SF together.
Peters also knows Lynch well from his time in Denver.
As we know, the NFL can be full of nepotism and "Old Boy Club" values.
I'm curious if Peters would want to rock the boat in this situation, knowing that he will likely be friends with Kyle/John well past this situation 🤔
I found this pretty interesting.
Adam Peters and Kyle Shanahan are closer than I thought.
Athletic Senior Writer for the 49ers, @mattbarrows attend the NFL's owner meetings this week.
He noticed Peters and Shanahan spending most of the night together at celebration dinner.
@wdhart3 I guess they're protected because a third-party is sharing that information. Based on "off the record" tips.
But to your point, they could have expressed the "no interest" narrative
I meant more in terms of league violations. Tampering. Or doing something that the NFL may suspend him for or slow his reinstatement.
I'm not fully rehearsed in all the rules of what he can and cannot do.
But it seems like he's walking a fine line.
Which is also why I think WSH has been silent on the matter.
