Alex Chapman explains why Gatwick expansion won't deliver the boost to prosperity the country needs💯

Another ridiculous move by the government granting Luton airport expansion, continuing to fly in the face of climate commitments.
We stand in solidarity with Luton campaigners working to stop this expansion.
Luton airport expansion granted, despite the planning inspector refusing it on environmental grounds.
We need to tell this government in no uncertain terms that we don't want airport expansion. Sign the petition: https://t.co/ceU3BHXU0F https://t.co/CTMTMtepy1
Outside the Royal Courts of Justice today calling out the govts foolish Jet Zero strategy.
Supposed green solutions don't exist & we need to reduce our emissions to prevent the worst impacts of climate breakdown - the govt must rewrite the strategy & stop growth in aviation.
Can you help us tell the government not to expand airports?
The Climate Change Committee is clear: there should be no net airport expansion if we are to meet our legally-binding climate targets. UK airports are big enough. Stop Airport Expansion. https://t.co/scztXWGTPW

More than 20 airports across the UK have plans to expand. More flights mean more emissions, when we should be doing everything we can to reduce our emissions.

In light of @theCCCuk’s new budget, Mike Childs says: “Technological investment is crucial but relying on solutions that are not workable at scale to justify a third runway at Heathrow, or expansion at Gatwick, would be a foolish and reckless gamble.”

"Today GACC are putting the Government on notice that, should they go ahead with what seems to be their revised plan, we will legally challenge what is still a dangerous and irresponsible decision." #Gatwick https://t.co/IqZglS2VVm
1. The Secretary of State for Transport has today made a decision stating that she is “minded to grant consent” for the development of Gatwick Airport based on an amended plan.
Further consultation is now expected with a final decision earmarked for October 2025.
3. Equally concerning is the government’s failure to listen to the evidence of the significant negative impact on local communities in terms of noise, air pollution, overloading of infrastructure and a general worsening of people's lives.
