Greene County: Pittman Construction Company has scheduled lane closures on Thursday, June 4 as part of the SR 44 widening project.
The contractor will mill between Meadow Crest Spur and I-20 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Thursday. All work will be done no later than 4:30 p.m.
District Communications Officer Will Volk continues his summer tour of our east-central Georgia district by visiting Glascock County and updating the bridge replacement project on Barford Rd. at Joe's Creek.
District Communications Officer Will Volk is touring our district this summer. He starts by visiting Richmond County, our most populous county, for an update on the resurfacing of SR 104 in downtown Augusta and a preview of future resurfacing projects on SR 28 and I-520.
The existing signal will be reprogrammed to flash beginning on Wednesday. It will be removed at the end of the project. Use caution when navigating the intersection in the coming weeks as crews will be on site to work on this quick response project.
TENNILLE: New roundabout configuration scheduled to be implemented Wednesday, June 3 at SR 15 and SR 68.
Crews are scheduled to be working in the road Wednesday 6/3 - Friday 6/5.
On Wednesday, crews will use barrels and striping to change the intersection to a roundabout configuration. Crews will then work to build a concrete island on Thursday and Friday.
Greene County: Here is an update on the SR 44 widening project, Phase 1. Crews have been relocating utilities, grading, and removing curb and gutter to prepare for construction of the new roadway.
Work will begin on Friday evening, May 15 and last through Sunday afternoon, May 17. Expect delays and drive with caution when navigating the work zone.
Milledgeville: Reeves Construction Company will close lanes this weekend as part of the US 441 resurfacing project. The US 441 and SR 22 intersection will be affected. Crews will work in the highlighted areas shown below.
Milledgeville: The new bridge on US 441 Business/South Wayne Street over Fishing Creek is open.
Please note, work is NOT complete. Drive with caution when navigating the area as crews work to finish the project.

District Communications Officer Will Volk provides an update on two roundabout projects in Newton County: SR 11 & SR 142 and SR 162 & Rocky Plains Rd.
While recording a roundabout project update at SR 162 & Rocky Plains Rd. in Newton County, our Will Volk witnessed a close call. We're installing a roundabout here to reduce the frequency and severity of crashes. Roundabouts reduce speeds and lower the number of conflict points.
Newton County: Here's an update on our bridge replacement project on SR 81 over Dried Indian Creek in Covington. The contractor has demolished the old bridge. This week, they are drilling pilot holes for pile, an important part of the new bridge's foundation.
