Thanks is much for the response Jeff! You’re a class act. And I for one appreciate all you’re doing for the game and hope you are able to stomach all the criticism that comes with accomplishing something worthwhile. No doubt that NLH is the most popular. But that’s in part a chicken and egg problem. People just aren’t regularly exposed to mixed. I plan on playing in the PPC for the first time this year and if not for the attention given to it and other mixed events by PokerGo over the years, I doubt that would be happening. In any event, keep up the great work Jeff. So appreciate all you are doing for the game!
@HilzFuld Hillel: I love your passion and all you do for the Klal but the preaching is getting a bit tiresome and is off putting to many. You should really listen to this excellent podcast by Rav Efrem which addresses this topic. https://t.co/ITO2t1s7Ml
@BR_OpenIce You can’t count OT losses as a tie. The whole nhl format is ridiculous. Games should be worth 3 points. Winner in regulation gets 3 points. If it goes to OT, winner gets 2 and loser gets 1
In a sane world, when a civilian is kidnapped from a music festival and reappears nearly two years later, starved, abused, and filmed digging his own grave, people care.
So where is the Red Cross?
Where is the UN?
Where are the human rights activists?
Do your job.
@BlackRainPoker@cardplayerlife “thinking in bets” by Annie Duke is a must read. It’s more about making good life decisions than poker but what you cite is a key concept. @AnnieDuke
@JonathanLittle Most decisions you make in life are made with incomplete information. That doesn’t excuse you from making thr best decision you can given what you know and what you need to estimate.
A charedi father takes his son to enlist - one of the very, very rare exceptions - and they are attacked. Meanwhile, there's a huge shortage of soldiers, forcing reservists to leave their studies and jobs and families for months on end. And for a year and a half of war, the government has done nothing about it. The government does not sanction those who evade enlistment, and does not take action against charedi leaders who tell their followers to disregard draft notices (even though this is a crime), and assures charedi leaders that they will not draft charedim. It's an absolute disgrace and a danger to us all.
So here’s my logic as to why I’m watching the Rangers tonight (other than to hear Sam & JD unite).
The Rangers have about a 1% chance to make the playoffs. They are about 3% to win their final 5 games and the Canadians are about 1/3 to get 2 or fewer points in their last 4 games.
Now, I will conservatively give the Rangers a 1/3 chance of winning any playoff series (I’d argue that Igor alone makes that number higher). So we’ll assign a 1/81 shot to them willing the Stanley cup if they make the playoffs. Combining those, if the season was played out from here 8100 times, the Rangers will hoist the cup just once.
Extremely unlikely? Yes. Impossible? No. 1/8100 events do happen. Let’s compare it to winning the PowerBall lottery with one ticket. Your odds are 1 in 292,201,338. Divide that by 8100 and the Rangers win the cup from here over 36,000x more times than you would win the PowerBall lottery if you bought a ticket. Believe! 😜😜😜
