The Siberian flying squirrel (Pteromys volans) is a nocturnal gliding rodent found across northern Europe and Asia, capable of gliding up to 60 meters between trees using a skin membrane called the patagium. It nests in tree cavities, feeds on buds and seeds, and is protected in parts of Europe due to habitat loss in old-growth forests.
