Thank you for honouring the determination, perseverance, and resilience that define the Nigerian spirit. I truly hope this serves as a source of inspiration for young people across Nigeria and Africa.
Meet Dr. Chigozie Chukwu, PhD โ From Failing WAEC 9 Times to Becoming a Global Scholar.
Against all odds. Beyond repeated failures. Through sheer determination, faith, will, and resilience.
This is the extraordinary story of Dr. Chigozie Chukwu, a Nigerian who sat for WAEC nine times and wrote JAMB seven times. Yes, nine times.
For years, opportunities slipped away. Results brought disappointment. Hope seemed distant. But he never gave up. Through tears, rejection, and ridicule, he clung tightly to one thing: his dream.
And today, that dream has become reality.
Dr. Chukwu earned his PhD in Development Economics with flying colours from the prestigious University of Lincoln in the United Kingdom. He now serves as a lecturer at a global university in the UK.
His journey is living proof that no failure is final, and no background can limit a determined spirit. When you refuse to quit, the impossible becomes possible.
This isn't just an academic success story, it's a beacon of hope for every young Igbo man and woman, Nigerian or African who has ever felt left behind. It's a bold reminder that grace + grit = greatness.
To every young person struggling with failure or self-doubt: you may stumble a hundred times, but it only takes one breakthrough to change your entire story.
Today, Dr. Chukwu doesn't just teach economics, he inspires minds. From classrooms in the UK to youth across Africa, he shares not only knowledge but the power of perseverance. If you're in a dark season, don't quit. Dr. Chukwu's story proves that destiny honors the relentless. Your breakthrough might be one more step away.
Chigozie Chukwu (@GENERALMAZII) is from Ngodo, Isuochi, in Umunneochi Local Government Area, Abia State.
Congratulations Odogwu, Dr. Chigozie Chukwu. Your journey is not only inspiring, it's empowering a generation.
Let's Retweet to celebrate him! ๐
4 Lessons learnt in the past 4 years.
1. You must be the no.1 believer of your vision. 2. Mental health is real. It's your most important data set.
3. Your community (circle) will carry you when motivation fails. 4. Your identity is bigger than your title.

@Wizarab10 In labour economics, there is a difference between opportunity and talent. Without opportunities, your talent is as good as moribund. I can explain further if you are interestedโ๏ธ
Just wrapped up another teaching year. Looking back, what stands out most is how far the students came. Seminar presentations, mock exams, guest speakership, data-driven discussions, etc. To all graduating students, I wish you all good success for the future.
Education changed my life. I will continue to use education to change the life trajectory of youngsters in my community. 2026, we go smarter and bigger by the grace of God.
Real Impact Begins at Home.
As part of a community-focused outreach initiative, Dr. Chigozie Chukwu, a Lecturer at the University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom, provided educational materials and welfare support to students and widows within his community.
The initiative involved the distribution of over 100 brand-new school bags, more than 400 exercise books, maths sets, and other essential stationery items to primary and secondary school students in Obinolu, Ngodo, Isuochi, Abia State. These items were provided to support learning, encourage school attendance, and boost studentsโ confidence as they pursue their education. In addition, widows from the same community received cartons of Indomie, vegetable oil, and cash assistance to help ease daily living needs and provide timely support.
This outreach reflects Dr. Chigozie Chukwuโs (@GENERALMAZII) commitment to community development and social responsibility, demonstrating that meaningful and lasting impact is driven at the grassroots level.
Nigeriaโs economy is shaped more by political interests than by sound economic principles. When propaganda and political considerations take precedence over evidence-based economic decision-making, sustainable growth becomes difficult to achieve. #Economics#Nigeria
I am looking for an excellent videographer and photographer. I have a gig for you. But you need to be residing in Abia state. Please, any recommendations? #igbo@IgboHistoFacts@VoiceOfTheEast
This is a great testimony. God is indeed faithful. Well done @iamthatpj. Just to add, if this young man can articulate his experience with such clarity, then there's no need for school, use this discipline & soft skills gained from prison to learn global in-demand skills.
