GOLDMAN PREDICTS STRONGER RAND

Goldman Sachs expects the Rand to strengthen further, supported by falling interest rates and improving public finances in South Africa.

The currency ended 2025 almost 13% stronger against the US dollar, its best performance in 16 years, helped by a weaker dollar and steady global growth.

The bank says South Africa is benefiting from easing inflation, lower borrowing costs and relatively low political risk compared with other emerging markets facing elections. Rising precious metal prices could also support the rand.

Goldman believes investors are shifting towards emerging markets as domestic demand improves.
