With India targeting 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 and Net-Zero emissions by 2070, transforming the power grid is as important as expanding clean energy generation.

In his latest article for Hindustan Times (@htTweets) our JMD Mr. Jitendra Kumar Agarwal (@JKAgarwalGenus) emphasizes how India’s energy transition will not be defined by how much clean energy we generate. It will be defined by how intelligently we manage it.

As renewable energy, EVs, rooftop solar and battery storage scale, the electricity grid is becoming far more dynamic. The old model of a largely one-way power system is giving way to an ecosystem where generation, distribution and consumption must constantly respond to one another.

That makes energy data a strategic asset. Smart meters are an important part of this shift. When connected with secure communication networks, data platforms and AI-led analytics, they can give utilities the visibility to understand demand in near real time, identify losses, manage peaks, improve outage response and integrate more renewable power into the grid.
