That isn't remotely true. There were a lot of reasons It failed but analog sticks wasnt one of them. The biggest one was that the PS2 had a DVD player and the greatest did not. The next one was it had far less game licenses and exclusives and thirdy The Dreamcast and the GameCube have the most sensitive disc's of any system ever released. Those three factors though the DVD accounted for well over 50% on its own. Led to its downfall and Sega pivoting away from gaming hardware and reinventing themselves as a software only company.

Im not saying to throw it out. I am just saying don't be surprised by it getting discontinued/no more updates/ store closing. It happens all the time and people keep saying I am defending them. Im not defending anything I think we have as much of a chance spitting at a wall trying to destroy it as we do stopping built in obsolescence. This used to be correct and is still technically "true" but no. Most manufacturers of electronics now offer support for about 5 to 7 years. Some as low as 3 some as high as 10. That doesn't meanit DEFINITELY won't work. It just means they are no longer offering updates guaranteeing it will. One definitive example I can give is that the majority of smart apps will no longer work on a Samsung Smart TV from 2017 or earlier. It may even be 2018 now.

There are two aides of the equation. The hardware you speak of and a literal software killswitch that says "no longer supported after version x releases this is not something that is unique to electronics but it is more well known.

I speak out against stupid shit in the industry all day every day and have fkr the last 30+ years. Planned obsolescence is bullshit there is no argument there. Its also so far ingrained in societal structures within every facet of every aspect of the entertainment industry that you aren't going to change any aspect of it any time soon. If we had acted 20 years ago maybe. Maybe. Bit now its in the fucking foundation of the indistry itself. Its now the "new norm" it started about 25 years ago but its been normalized for about 10.

What I am doing is picking the battles actually worth fighting for and setting aside the futile shit for a time when its actually possible to change it. The industry needs union protections, maximum hours worked in a week you think planned obsolescence even registers on my list of priorities when a good 20% of the workforce in the industry is constantly laid off rinse and repeat?

The videogame industry is the most profitable part of the entertainment industry now. Yet its still tresged like a toy company. There are battles that can be won and battles that might be able to be fought to a stalemate after a few other things change. But fighting planned obsolescence? Good fucking luck with that one.

Around the time of Kennedy quite a few Democrsts changed their stripes and the party became unrecognizable from its previous state. A very large group of Democrats were upset that Fhe party they believed in was suddenly fighting for minorities and seperation of church and state. So thry switched sides to the Republican party. In conclusion. Do your research but understand that no political party is all good or all bad. Your entire chart refers to the incorrect political party. Frankly the two party system should have been done away with a long time ago. Treat people as they are, not the party they belong to. Most people are not inherently bad. A few bad apples on bth sides ruin it for everyone.
