So much fun in 1st grade today incorporating M2 into math workshop!! These mathematicians are working hard to write about their thinking. @fcpsaap@gfesfcps@deedeehw5
Our 4th and 5th grade Young Scholars had a great time working with simple machines to build Halloween catapults. Who do you think got their acorn,💀 or 🎃 the farthest?? Thank you KAST club from @TJHSST_Official! @fcpsaap@gfesfcps@JackieKwon101
4th and 5th grade Young Scholars worked hard as engineers today to invent new, and innovate existing ideas. Lots of Communicator, Collaborator, and Critical and Creative Thinking skills used! Thank you @Thinkabit_Lab for having us!! #gfeaglessoar@fcpsaap@JackieKwon101@gfesfcps
1st and 2nd grade Young Scholars worked as aerospace engineers to build and test out different parachute designs, and see which ones created the most drag. We can’t wait to create our own designs next week!! @gfesfcps@fcpsaap@JackieKwon101
These M2 student safety inspectors tested out what happens when marbles crash! They had so much fun investigating while also practicing their measurement skills. #m2@gfesfcps@fcpsaap
Ms. Sisk’s class used DeBono’s Thinking Hats to engage with a @Newsela article. So many different perspectives; a great start to the Critical Literacy unit! @gfesfcps@fcpsaap
We had a great morning with our 1st and 2nd grade Young Scholars! We read about drumming in Ghana, and recorded different sounds that we heard in the book. Then, as sound engineers, students represented the drum sounds they heard using straws and beads.#eie@fcpsaap@gfesfcps
More shape building in 2nd grade 🟪. Teachers used different materials to teach the same standards for 2-D and 3-D shapes. Flexible thinking! And check out that pentagonal pyramid!! @gfesfcps@MathematicsFcps
2nd graders in Ms.Collier’s class came back strong from spring break by engaging in an M2 geometry lesson!! They used pipe cleaners and straws to build 2-D shapes, and then discussed and wrote descriptions. Lots of great thinking and conversation! @fcpsaap@gfesfcps
Thank you @JeffLonnett for coming in to support 2nd grade in our work with POGPOL. Teachers reflected on the amazing work that they’ve already done, and discussed next steps for how to move student thinking forward. #pogpolinfcps@gfesfcps
First grade researchers in Ms. Hartbarger’s class used the thinking routine “I used to think, now I think” to reflect on their learning after interviewing a guest speaker about the military. Then, they collaborated to create a group FlipGrid! #projectzero@gfesfcps@fcpsaap
Let's stretch our brains using FOFE to think about ways to celebrate #PiDay. Pi (π) is the ratio of the circumference of any circle to the diameter of that circle. No matter what the circle’s size the ratio will always equal Pi (π). How cool is that?
2nd grade collaborators worked together to get as close as possible to their target number! We loved playing “The Target Game” from M2 to think deeply about addition and place value. @fcpsaap@gfesfcps
Happy TwosDay at 2:22 pm! Not only is it a special palindrome day, but it's a palindrome week. Try some critical and creative thinking exercises to help you celebrate this fun date!
