@DMichaelTripi@elonmusk@POTUS@FLOTUS I think there’s so much going on at that level, we cannot even comprehend it. Maybe in 40 years we will find out more..
JUST IN: #Cardano $ADA Founder Charles Hoskinson says "we must never forget, the reason why cryptocurrencies exist, is so that we no longer need governments. We can transcend them. That, my friends, is why we're really here and what we're really doing."
It’s frustrating how in crypto we never show up when the world needs us most.
Natural disasters like the LA fires and world crises and we’re mostly in complete SILENCE.
No fundraisers, no donations, no projects stepping up, no leaders showing support.
For an industry that claims to empower everyone and connect our absence in moments of need is glaring.
If we can’t show up for the world why should anyone care about what we’re building?
Facebook burning out on failing at centralized content moderation. Well. Nobody saw this coming, did they?
Just for Sunday morning kicks, before heading off to church to pray for humanity's flickering soul I shall re-post my blog on Decentralized Social Media from 2 yrs ago, which is linked to a longer whitepaper on the subject:

Bluesky and Mastodon are both on the right track in slightly different ways.
To sum up --
1). FB is right to stop doing centralized content moderation
2) Folks are NOT right to equate this function with censorship... FB is big but certainly not the whole internet and there were always other viable ways to get your message out
3) It's really disappointing to see so many people equate "not wanting to block people from saying Thing-X at the platform level" from "not finding Thing-X abhorrent or even terrifying" .... Yikes. How are we not beyond this point? How can the basic value of free and open communication in a democratic community STILL be so poorly understood?
4) What FB should do if they really care about the human species, the US political scene and all that is: Decentralize the content propagation process as well.
Centralized content moderation leads to the problems Zuckerberg is now correctly pointing out. (in a complex and fractious and dynamic society there are not always broadly accepted "right choices" about content)
Centralized content propagation without centralized content moderation leads to the problems Zuckerberg's critics are pointing out (the appearance of a platform endorsing false and nasty stuff) ... also to legal issues for the platform...
5) We have the tech now to allow dissemination of messages online to be decentralized in the same sense that crypto transactions are. Then people can adopt the filters they want, to filter out messages they don't want to see. AI can totally be our ally here, and can serve our needs transparently -- if designed and configured and requested to do so.
6) We keep running around in circles on this issue because it is not in the interest of Big Tech to decentralize social media and other online media, even though this is obviously the best solution for our species and we have the tech for it now.
7) Ahem ... if we can't even solve this very elementary point ... how are we going to solve the slightly subtler conundrums involved in rolling out beneficial AGI and ASI? (well, hopefully the answer is the latter is more important so some of us are putting a more special kind of mental and heart energy into the task...?)
