𝗙𝗧: 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗮 𝟭-𝟮 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶 🟡🔴

Roma suffer their first loss of the season and it’s at the Olimpico. Brutal.

Embarrassing display for I’d say about 85% of the match. Roma hit the woodwork three times but Empoli also missed two golden opportunities early on in the match. It was a deserved victory for them and one they should be proud of.

I’m just going to skip to the point, this midfield is DESTROYING everything. They offer nothing going forward or defensively. Paredes is clearly nowhere near fit enough to play an important role for this team, yet. He missed a vast majority of the summer training camp due to the Copa America. But, that isn’t an excuse for the penalty he gave up. He’s a player that has never been afraid to show his emotions on the pitch, whether it be for better or worse. Today it was the latter and it costed his team a result.

I hate to pile on top of Cristante because it’s redundant at this point. I don’t feel like repeating the same thing every week. He’s a great squad player to have but simply isn’t up to standard to be a starter. As for Pellegrini, many will be extra critical of him because of the armband. He certainly was not great today, he also wasn’t THE issue. He takes you on a ride. There’s moments where he’s able to create a dangerous opportunity and there are also moments where he’ll be jogging forward not paying any attention to what’s going on behind him and then instead of receiving the ball, the opposing team receives it and starts a counter attack. Very frustrating.

I thought Soulé was atrocious, very very very poor. Does that mean I think he’s a bad player? Of course not. He very clearly possess great technical ability. It’s just a decision making issue with him and he also tries to do too much at times and gets tunnel vision. He’s also still trying to learn more about his teammates. I’m not worried about him long term. He has what you can’t teach, everything he’s lacking is learnable.

Dovbyk started off great but it didn’t take long before he slowed down and began to look a little out of place. Which once again, is normal for a new signing. You also gotta feel for him, he got little to no service for a lot of the match. The best crosses into the box we saw all match long was a cross from Dybala to Pellegrini in the first half and Baldanzi’s cross to Eldor for the goal. Shoutout to Eldor by the way, who saw that coming? Outside of that, we saw horrific cross after horrific cross.

The elephant in the room needs to be addressed and that is DDR’s stubbornness. I understand that some of these guys have spent a lot of time at the club and have garnered a lot of respect amongst their peers. But, respect doesn’t win you football matches. Quality does. And some of these guys are simply not good enough. Maybe they can be in lesser roles, but they aren’t weekly starters. You cannot be married to specific players. Once Le Fée and Baldanzi entered the match, it all changed for the better. Dybala then shifted centrally behind the striker and Roma began to look threatening. We aren’t there during practices so we can only go based off what we’ve seen in these first two games. What I’ve seen is Baldanzi needs to start next week against Juventus. The kid was arguably the best player on the pitch alongside Dybala when they both entered against Cagliari and then tonight when he entered he was without a doubt Roma’s best player. Reward him with a start, enough is enough.

This is exactly how last season started off and we paid the price for it in the end. These poor results against lesser teams forces you to get results against the bigger sides now. We’ll see what happens next week against Juventus. If you want to take one positive away from tonight, perhaps this forces the club to put their foot on the gas in the final week of the market and improve this squad. Until next week, Forza Roma. 💛❤️

Si tú realmente ganaste unas elecciones:

¿Necesitas bloquear redes sociales?
¿Necesitas que un tribunal certifique tu triunfo?
¿Necesitas amenazar con cárcel a tus adversarios?
¿Necesitas encarcelar a miles de personas que protestan en tu contra?
Qué extraña manera de celebrar.

I've been seeing more and more of this.
It seems similar to the aversion to making movies that have new IPs.
