The transition into using greener materials requires a number of intermediary processes. As plastic will always be needed for research in some capacity, it's important to make this use as green as possible. In fact, plastic recycling is greener than glass recycling!

Hello greenies 🌿 as June comes to an end, for many of us in Québec this signals the approach of MOVING SEASON 📦 Our green tip is to take home cardboard delivery boxes that labs receive and re-use as your packing boxes to save money and single-use cardboard. Happy packing!
Did someone say meatless Monday?
Check out this article published in nature about how reducing our beef consumption by only one fifth could actually cut deforestation in half!

Come learn about #GreenLab and #SustainableScience and how you can bring #ClimateAction to your lab.
Definitely for all #PhD#postdocs
Earth Day 🌍 marks an opportunity for all of us to reflect on our climate goals as individuals and as a community. Here are a couple organizations in Canada with opportunities to take climate action:

How awesome is this? 👍👍👍
Don't just throw away your old equipment, it's got good bones. With the right TLC it can totally be repaired.
Fixing what you have and not buying new is a great way for your #greenlab to be more #sustainable.
Our tip for #SustainabilityTipTuesday is to check whether your suppliers or manufacturers offer any schemes to recycle or reuse packaging, such as polystyrene boxes ♻️
Did you just get a big box of dry ice shipped so big you can't find your sample?
Save the dry ice by putting it in your ULT (-80/70C) freezer for use later

Going somewhere👀?
Labs continue to use energy even after (or if..) we go home. Making sure that when you leave, your fume hood is closed or the lights are off help us reduce our energy consumption with minimal effort. Thanks Owen for making sure that no energy will be wasted🌱
MORE🌱tips coming your way.
Single use plastic is unfortunately a part of research. To reduce your plastic waste, switch to glass when possible or re-use plastic materials for repeat experiments.
Here are Charlotte and Juliet's re-using plastic and glass. WAY TO GO GUYS 🌷🌷
First up in our #actsofgreen campaign, we have our co-chair @Alexandre_B_86 making sure every lab has a nice blue bin ♻️ Cardboard, paper, plastic... These are everyday items we find in many labs and that can be recycled! Thanks Alex 😍
Sustainability can be daunting. By implementing small changes, we build towards bigger change! We will be sharing our members and their small acts of green both inside and outside the lab to show that sustainability can be easy (and FUN)🪴 #actsofgreen
Today is Earth Overshoot Day 2021. This is the day in 2021 when humanity had consumed all the renewable resources that the planet can renew in a single year. Thinking about this can be alarming but check out https://t.co/NBelVw5pUu for amazing efforts to move it back!
