AI data centres are hungry for land, water & power.
I’m calling on every major AI company to publicly disclose the full environmental impact of its systems – as a matter of transparency
No more hidden costs.
No more shifting the burden onto those least able to bear it.
It is time to come clean.
De vuelta a mi blog luego de unas vacaciones de paternidad. En este ensayo resumo una de las determinaciones judiciales más consecuentes para la industria de la IA hasta el momento: https://t.co/a1kT75TMRv
"Google's surplus analysis can predict that you are likely to buy an expensive woolen suit, and its real-time location data can trigger the propietor real-time prompt, matched to your profile and delivered at the very moment that you are within sight of the flannels" - S. Zuboff
@tobi Why are you so intentionally biased, ALL THE TIME? Your Elon wannabe vibe is obvious. You wish to catalize intelligent public policy discussions? Share your thoughts objectively, and don't tril context to favor your perspective.
Don't just aim to influence non thinkers.
Just heard the sovereignty panel at @TOtechweek with @cohere and @DominionDynamic . Data localization and independence was not discussed, which shows......an area of opportunity. Next year I'm rooting for @CDTSuOttawaCLTS to host a tech policy panel. Please!
First hour in the @TOtechweek , seems like Sillicon Valley v. Canada is the main and only topic, which is sad because its a sign of distraction. Don't waste time comparing yourself with the south. Just show your value (which you have PLENTY).
"Intelligent-moron" - A person smart enough to build a successfull business (or to have A grades, a PhD, etc.) but moron enough to contradict Human Rights & Democratic values. (ex. Being a white supremasist, a racist, or arguing for a "white genocide". @elonmusk leads this team.
Hearing @tobi (who obviously loves hearing himself) live at @TOtechweek, sharing his OPINIONS. In a technocratic world, its worth reminding listeners that.
@Shanemgillis Heard your bonsai joke. Racist jokes perpetuate racism, but you don't know that because you are not educated. But forget that. The real joke is that you, and most of your peers, are not funny at all. You just laugh at your own oblivious racism. Together, obviously.
It's incredibily inspiring to see academic institutions fulfill their role of not just educating and executing rigorous research, but of taking moral stances for the benefit of society. When it comes to staying human in the era of AI, @AHA_MediaLab is a great example. Thank you.
@GaryMarcus My mom says refereing oneself in the third person is never a good sign...
Your arguments (most of them) stand on their own. No need to fall in the same sensationalism you critic.
@aidangomez Definetely in the top for me. Loved my experience at @CDTSuOttawaCLTS, (world class faculty), learned in the way the difference between being Nice and being Caring (Canadians exceeding in the latter), and became Poutine and Canadian Maple Syrup Ambassador back in Puerto Rico.
