Dr Ralph Saubern from Aust Council Ed Research calling it like it is. All AI is doing is highlighting "very bad assessment practice" 12 weeks learning and an essay no more. #edutech2023

@MarkRobinsonNI If that sign was a website it would fail accessibility standards with that black/grey text on a brown background. The same principles should apply in real life. Pretty fundamental contrast issues there.

@beilinglaoshi@srowett@timbocop@MaryJacobTEL1 @gcwils0n @Charlesknight It's not as simple as telling staff not to use it. In large institutions it can be challenging getting comms through to everyone. There's no reason that this can't be tested like every other new feature...small cohort testing, pilots and larger rollout.
We won! Turnitin is notifying schools that they can opt out of the AI Writing Detection tool. Congratulations to everyone that worked on this, and helped spread the word!
Turnitin locking in AI detection (giving institutions no choice to turn it off) seems to me like a last ditch, all-in effort to remain relevant. How about you?
@timbocop We just found out this afternoon that it won't be able to be disabled. Rather disappointing. We're now working on some guidance to coincide with the release. Surely something so hot potato should be 'opt in' or at the very least admin controlled by individual institutions.
@PracKapital@theprojecttv in Australia did an excellent interview with Kim Phuc, the 'napalm' girl, on the 50th anniversary of the event. Really heartbreaking. https://t.co/i4oHOjiRwa
Hot topic of discussion! How do you engage students in an LMS? The LMS is often treated like an afterthought with learner engagement, but it should be central to the learners experience. #EduTECH2022
