If I were a local authority *still* engaging in discrimatory practices, I'd be worried right now. Glasgow - Biggest ever equal pay strike! Birmingham - Biggest Equal pay coverup, uncovered!
GMB Women's Campaign Unit is winning for women all over the country โ๏ธ @GMB_union
.@BhamCityCouncil have stolen ยฃ700m+ from working women.
Talk of enquiries, threats over jobs but only thing we should be hearing is:
1. Sorry for the harm that has been caused
2. How they will pay women back what has been stolen from them, as quickly as possible.
@HJN1889 @GMBGriff @GMBGarySmith@GMBCampaigns@GMBMidlands I made so many memories yesterday in an annual meeting that I absolutely love to attend, but I thought I would be unable to participate this year. All made possible from the support of my GMB family xxx
@MartinAllenGMB@justinejonesGMB & @markshirley2 Have they got police protecting the gate so that we can't speak to staff?
I'm gobsmacked! Staff being abused & threatened in shops daily by real criminals, yet police don't attend, but they will stand on a gate stopping a legal peaceful protest!
This absolutely shocking admission from Birmingham City Council would never have come to light if it were not for @GMB_union members & fabulous reps standing firm, and refusing to allow the city to sweep it under the carpet with a paltry pay off! ๐ช โ๏ธ

Breaking ๐จ@UKLabour run Birmingham City Council admits equal pay failure as 1000s of @GMB_union women members sue their employer AGAIN.
See below shameful email from Chief Exec that threatens services to pay for her Councilโs discrimination of women workers.
Shameful
@rheawolfson@UKLabour@GMB_union Blaming a new IT system is not gonna cut it. They have knowingly discriminated against their women workers for decades!
These women have sat patiently for 6 months, willing the employer to do the right thing - pay them fairly. Today, they'd had enough. They stood up, and they took control. No one wants to take strike action. But destiny is in your hands and not in those of your employers.
It was a privilege to be invited to speak at last nights Birmingham rally on behalf of @GMBMidlands and our striking members. The message was clear, there are no political superheroes we must organise!

@Fin_Bowie @MartinAllenGMB @GMBStuart
Glasgow women have won thier right to equal pay. They organised themselves and they took it directly to the councils door. @BrumLeader, you need to do the right thing now. You need to take control. @GMBMidlands women are taking thier lead from this amazing team @ShonaGmbGlasgow
"The Equal Pay Act has never won us anything, women workers organising themselves win Equal Pay" @GMBMichelleH speaking at @TUCMidlands equality conference
@Sarah_atGMB@MartinAllenGMB@TUCMidlands@GMBMidlands Was amazed to hear what goes on in the garment industry, not having had much need to be on the other side of the Midlands. But so proud, to now be a part of a @GMBMidlands team that plays a fundamental part of this real grassroots organising campaign. #makeworkbetter
Big well done to GMB Birmingham Public Service Activist Jan
We all deserve fair pay. Birmingham City Council could easily resolve the Equal Pay issues our women workers face
Overwhelming support for this motion at @WMLabour conference today.
@BrumLeader hope you were listening?
Our women members have been short changed for decades. @BhamCityCouncil accept this, but still delay doing the right thing and fixing it once and for all. @GMBBirmPubServ deserve better, and demand equal pay justice. Now! โ
Who is really running @BhamCityCouncil?
The people of the city didnโt elect the legal officers tying themselves in knots trying to deny our members pay justice.
Whether the @BrumLabour leadership is weak or malicious, if it takes a strike ballot to focus minds then so be it.
GMB Women In Birmingham City Council are organising, they won't stop until they're paid their worth.
We're shining a light on the discrimatory practices of the largest authority in the UK.@BrumLeader@BhamCityCouncil
Got 90 seconds? โ๏ธ
On Monday the Commonwealth Games torch arrives in the UK.
Meanwhile 1 in 5 Birmingham City Council workers are using foodbanks. There is a cost of living crisis; it's time for Equal Pay now.
GMB sent a message on Equal Pay last night ๐ฆ
