@HCCvPDAC Howard, Sincerest congratulations to you! What a huge opportunity to make difference and create a dedicated new PC focus at HFH! Look forward to hearing more!

There will soon open a concerted effort among many research
centers to collect blood samples annually from patients who have been found by
genetic testing to carry a PC predisposition mutation or who have a strong family history of pancreatic cancer.
@drallysonocean@lustgartenfdn@HopkinsKimmel@PennCancer@SU2C The 2nd high risk group are persons over age 50 who have had a recent diagnosis of diabetes, and experiencing weight loss. Some researchers use the ENDPAC model (ENDPAC: Enriching New-Onset Diabetes for Pancreatic Cancer) developed by Mayo Clinic docs (Gastroenterology.2018 Sep)

@letswinpc The second high risk group are persons over age 50 who have had a recent diagnosis of diabetes, and experiencing weight loss. We study the ENDPAC model (ENDPAC: Enriching New-Onset Diabetes for Pancreatic Cancer) developed by Mayo Clinic docs (Gastroenterology. Sep 2018)
@letswinpc There are two high risk groups that researchers are targeting for study: the first group are persons with strong genetic or familial predisposition
@letswinpc We researchers are developing early detection tests that will be valid and
reliable when researchers have the study samples from clearly defined high risk
groups of people.
@letswinpc The key to diagnosing pancreatic cancer will be a good understanding of the biology of the tumor and of the epidemiologic patterns of early signs of the cancer.
