CENTRAGRID SOLAR PLANT POWERS ZIMBABWE WITH 25MW OF CLEAN ENERGY.
Located in Nyabira, Mashonaland West, the Centragrid Solar Power Plant is one of Zimbabwe’s key renewable energy projects.
🔹 Project started: 2014
🔹 Phase 1 completed: 2018 (2MW connected to the national grid)
🔹 Expansion launched: 2023
🔹 Expansion completed: 2024
🔹 Current generation capacity: 25MW
The plant supplies clean electricity to the national grid, helping improve power availability in Norton, Chinhoyi, Karoi, Bindura and surrounding areas while strengthening Zimbabwe’s energy security.
The project has also created jobs, stimulated local economic activity and demonstrated the role renewable energy can play in driving sustainable development and economic growth.
Centragrid is a strong example of how private sector investment is helping Zimbabwe expand electricity generation and transition towards cleaner energy sources.

#BREAKING: AIR INDIA FLIGHT #AI171 CRASHES IN AHMEDABAD SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF
Following reports of a crash involving Air India flight #AI171 from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (reg: VT-ANB) lost signal at 08:08:51 UTC, just seconds after takeoff.
According to the State Police Control Room, the aircraft was carrying 242 people, including 12 crew. Emergency teams are rushing to the crash site near IGB Ground in Ahmedabad.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation (@MoCA_GoI) has confirmed the incident.

These are the first pictures and names of the pilots of the ill-fated Air India plane that crashed just moments after take-off.
Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, who had 8,200 hours of experience, was today named as the pilot of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
First Officer Clive Kunder, from Mumbai, was co-piloting. He had logged 1,100 of flying hours and completed his training at the Florida-based Paris Air Flight School, according to local media.
Cabin crew members Nganthoi Sharma Kongbrailatpam and Lamnunthem Singson were also revealed to have been onboard.
Senior members Shradha Dhavan and Aparna Mahadik, along with Saineeta Chakravarti, Deepak Pathak, Maithili Patil, Irfan Shaikh, Roshni Songhare Rajendra, and Manisha Thapa were also named among the crew.
Air Commodore Ellen Chiweshe takes over base command of the Jason Z Moyo Airforce from Air Commodore Nicholas Nyathi, becoming the second female officer to command a base since 1980.
The handover-takeover ceremony is done in the presence of chief witness, Airforce of Zimbabwe commander, Air Marshal John Jacob Nzvede.
