When setting up a business, the first decision to make is whether to be a sole trader or a limited company. But which is best? It isn’t always clear cut. We can help you make that decision by looking at your particular circumstances and how you see your business developing.
I'd hate to think that, while we've been volunteering and others have watched their businesses die, someone's been making a fortune from this crisis.
If due process hasn't been followed then the punishment must be severe.
It's #MapReadingWeek and a chance to plan a walk or a short trip using a map. During these times, we'd like to remind you that Maps@Aworth our @OrdnanceSurvey Mapping and Data Centre is continuing to run, providing both professionals and the general public with the maps they need
While many companies are struggling during the pandemic, once it’s over, there could be a rise in the number of businesses being launched. One of the first questions somebody needs to address is whether to be a sole trader or establish a limited company?

Make today #TestItTuesday - the day each week that you test your smoke alarms at home. If you're the 'responsible person' at work, then also use this day to run a fire alarm test in your building. You should do this during working hours so your colleagues recognise the sound.
Turns out I'm three hours early for a job in London.

A responsible person must: carry out a fire risk assessment and review it regularly; tell staff or their representatives about any risks; put in place, and maintain, appropriate fire safety measures; plan for an emergency; provide information, fire safety instruction and training
In shared premises it’s likely there’ll be more than one responsible person. You’ll need to co-ordinate your #firesafety plans to make sure people on or around the premises are safe. For common or shared areas, the responsible person is the landlord, freeholder or managing agent.
