I’ve been a Gamecock fan for 70 years — seen a lot of ups, a whole lotta downs, and more heartbreak than my doctor recommends. This season? Rough as sandpaper. With the team struggling, stadium upgrades underway, and a new offensive coordinator stepping in, I say it’s high time we freshen up the radio booth too. Jeremiah Donati oughta consider a three-man setup: Mike Morgan on play-by-play (he’s got the pipes), Todd sliding into the color role, and Tommy taking on a Lee Corso-style gig for pre- and postgame. That’d bring some life back to the broadcast.
Now, I’ve been battling a UTI and my brain’s been foggier than a Columbia morning in November. I forgot the name of the stadium last week, and I still can’t remember the name of that little guy who does pregame/postgame with Chet. I heard a rumor that the little guy broadcast from a hotel room or something like that. Any who need a fresh face there. I’ve seen even that Clemson coach from the ’80s — dang, his name’s on the tip of my tongue — and Dabo himself make changes to their radio setup. If they can do it, so can we.
Let’s bring in folks like Terry Ford, Chet Tucker, and a rotating crew of Gamecock greats: Stephen Garcia, Pat DiMarco, Syvelle Newton, Preston Thorne, maybe even Luke Doty. JC Shurburtt’s podcast is top-notch, and that young lady LuLuKeisen — she’s got the spark, might just be the next Alyssa Lang.
Being a Gamecock fan at 70-plus ain’t easy, especially in seasons like this. But I still love this team with all I’ve got. Let’s evolve the booth and bring some fire back to Gamecock Nation. And if you see me wandering around forgetting names, just pat me on the back and say “Go Cocks!”@JDonati_SC@CoachSBeamer@ctuck22@StephenGarcia@PatDiMarco42 @prestonthorn @CoachPTweets@MorganOnAir@syvellenewton@LukeDoty9@radioterryford@LuluKesin@jcshurburtt@CoachSBeamer@GamecockFB@JustinKing
