On October 9th I had my first Ring Ouzel of the year near Chowder, Barton on the local patch - they have been a bit thin this autumn but Wayne and Clare found one in the same spot this morning surely a different bird not seen in the interim - a nice first-winter male
Slavonian Grebe in the darkness at Barton this afternoon - thanks to Darren Wozencroft who found it - first-winter with pale orange iris not seen before
not all parakeets squealing around are Rose-ringed - in neighbour's garden this week in Barton one of two birds in the area but second needs better views
One of at least 12 Chinese Long-tailed Rosefinches (Uragus sibiricus lepidus 长尾雀 Cháng wěi què) at Lingshan on Monday. This one is a male. A small population breeds at this site, with more records in winter.
First time birding in the Algarve for us and I had a brilliant time (even with the dodgy weather) Subalpine Warbler, Zitting Cisticola and a Cetti's preparing to do it's disappearing act 😄
Waking up feeling utterly devastated - for the future of our climate, for equality, for women’s health and so much more. Take the day to feel it, but remember to go outside into nature. Tomorrow’s another day, and the fight for what’s right will continue 💚
A Dusky x Naumann's Thrush (Turdus eunomus 斑鸫 Bān dōng x Turdus naumanni 红尾鸫 Hóng wěi dōng) intergrade was among the 80+ winter thrushes feeding on berries at Lingshan this morning.
One of the last birds seen on this Oman trip also happens to be one of the best. Part of a flock of 7 beautiful elegant Caspian plovers. Check out how long the tertials are on the flight shot!
