The ongoing police situation at Pryor and Airline was resolved peacefully at around 12:45. More details will be released this afternoon. The 23 year old male suspect, who was having a mental health crisis, is in custody.
Please avoid the area of Pryor and Airline for an active police situation. Officers are shutting down many of the neighboring streets as a precaution. The Erwin Park Community Center will be shut down this afternoon until things are resolved.
The off-ramp from I-85 north to 321 south is closed due to an overturned transfer truck. Expect some delays. One person hurt and transported to hospital.
Murder Suspect Caught!
Gastonia Police, along with the U.S Marshals Fugitive Task Force, have arrested 21-year-old Elijah Craig in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred on April 1, 2026.
Gastonia Police, alongside the U.S. Marshals Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force, have arrested Ricardo Mitchell.
Mitchell was wanted on eight counts of trafficking cocaine and two counts of trafficking methamphetamine. He is now in custody.

Missing Teen Found.
Acting on a tip from North Florida, officers have helped locate 16-year-old Luis Tario, who had been missing from Gastonia since October 31.
The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain under investigation.
