JEILO Collections discussion on Made in Kenya discussion at the Citizen TV with the great Yvonne Okwara. Leather and textile bags, gift items and accessories producers
#MondayMotivation - This week's motivation is Grace Mbugua, Co-founder and CEO of @jeilocollection that makes hand-crafted bags from the finest African print fabric or leather adorned with handmade accessories for different occasions and events!
Rizichi Githinji, Rizichi Creations - There's been a disconnect between brands and musicians. Designers need to understand artists' needs. We, therefore, need to understand the market demands and work together to promote Kenyan fashion brands.
#KenyanByDesign
Grace Mbugua, Jeilo Creations - We need to build our value chains, so we are all able to locally source raw materials, to design our products.
#KenyanByDesign
K-Letta, Artiste Manager - Before, the fashion and music industries were working in silos. They did not work together. Currently, the two sectors work together. We have seen more artists proudly wear local designs. There is stronger collaboration.
#KenyanByDesign
Grace Mbugua, Jeilo Creations - Even as we encourage Kenyans to buy local designs, our products need to be able to compete with imports. To achieve this, the government needs to create an enabling environment for us.
