GREDO Executive Director, @aden_alinur joined the Country Humanitarian Forum (CHF) in Baidoa, convened by SoDMA, alongside the Ministries of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management from the Federal Member States, humanitarian partners, donors, UN agencies, and other key stakeholders.
The forum focused on the escalating humanitarian situation in Somalia, where over six million people are facing acute food insecurity driven by the compounding effects of drought, while preparations are underway to mitigate the anticipated impacts of El Niño-related flooding during the upcoming Deyr season.
GREDO remains committed to working with government institutions, humanitarian partners, and local communities to strengthen preparedness, deliver life-saving assistance, and build resilience among the most vulnerable populations.

🚨Burhakaba is facing a rapidly worsening crisis, with a real risk of famine-like conditions.
WFP is responding under extreme constraints but urgent support is needed now to avert catastrophe.
Hear from the WFP Deputy Country Director @BailletRaynatou for the latest update👇
At GREDO, we believe resilience starts with communities. Building resilience means strengthening both rural livelihoods and urban systems through locally led solutions, strong partnerships, and sustained investment. Together, we can build communities that are better prepared for future shocks.
Drought in Somalia doesn't stay in rural areas. Livelihoods collapse, communities move to cities, pressures spread. How do we build resilience across both? That was the question at our learning event with @CARE Denmark and BriCS. Strong coordination, stronger results #Resilience
Under the Smart Somali Farming Initiative, GREDO delivered Planting & Crop Management training to smallholder farmers in Afgooye District.

Through the Early Drought Response Programme in Beletweyne District, GREDO has successfully registered 655 drought-affected households across Abdikadir, Qoydo, Nimcan, and Dhay Wabar villages.
Each household has received the first cash transfer of USD 90 under a three-month Multipurpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) programme, enabling families to meet urgent needs, access food, and protect their livelihoods before drought conditions worsen.
This timely support is strengthening community resilience and helping vulnerable households better withstand the impacts of recurring climate shocks.
The ARC Drought Response Project is implemented in partnership with @StartNetwork through a consortium of national NGOs comprising @Sadosomalia1, @gredosom and @WasdaSomalia, under the leadership of SADO Somalia.

At 63 years old, Osman Ibrahim carried the burden of caring for eight children after displacement stripped his family of their livelihood and left them facing hunger and uncertainty.
When he arrived at Misaare IDP Camp in Buurhakaba, he had little hope for the future. Today, he is rebuilding his life with renewed confidence and dignity.
Osman is one of 1,000 vulnerable households supported through the @Somali_Cash, in partnership with @SaveChildrenSO in Buurhakaba and Qansaxdheere districts.
Through the project, he received USD 100 per month for three consecutive months, helping him meet urgent needs and take the first steps toward rebuilding his livelihood.
