No easy answers - what I am concerned about is the moving away straw that helps in building organic carbon in soil - if this picks up Punjab soils are at high risk of being very low to support economical production! Are we going overboard on electricity generation using biomass!
Another of those re-hashed impractical suggestions commonly provided by policymakers, academics & those who have never farmed; the article suggests that if #Punjab farmers are provided 12,000 / acre, they could shift from paddy to pulses, oilseeds and millets. It will never work.
