Great article @megcevans: "Businesses and governments hold disproportionate power that can be used to either delay or accelerate transformative change."
"Hear me now — using my voice amongst a growing chorus of voices that will not be silenced. Let's make some noise, Australia!"
Sexual assault survivor and advocate Grace Tame has been named 2021 Australian of the Year.
We will speak to Grace soon.
Great write up on the big ticket environment issues for 2021 @adamlmorton and @_LisaMCox. Lots of work, opportunities and (as always), many threats on the horizon.

Surely it's well and truly time to end native forest logging and transition to sustainable jobs in Aussie forests. We lost too much habitat in the fires, save what's left.

Old-growth and important forest, like that on Kingvale Station, should be protected for good and never considered for bulldozing. Hoping this decision signals a new era of federal ministers addressing Australia’s globally significant deforestation crisis?
Aus is a global deforestation hotspot along with places like the Amazon. Qld takes the trophy for bulldozing more forest and bushland than any other state. Qld election coming up. @AnnastaciaMP & @DebFrecklington - our next state leader must address with strong deforestation laws
Australia is one of the land clearing capitals of the developed world.
Our environment reporter @nkilvert broke down the "tree budget" across every state and territory.
How does your state compare? 🌲🪓📈

Deforestation kills wildlife and makes climate change worse - whether it's legal or illegal at the time. Companies shouldn't be allowed to bulldoze forests for their products. Luckily 21 other food firms including McDonalds agree with this statement.

Tonight, we saw a bully in action. The PM and every Coalition MP made a mockery of due process for legislation and bulldozed environmental and water protection. And they were laughing while doing it. This is how they represent you. If you care, contact your MP. #auspol
The Prime Minister just shut down the House of Representatives to ram through a Bill weakening our environmental laws with no debate. This contempt for our democracy beggars belief. This was a deplorable move by the Government and I condemn them wholly for it.
Unfortunately, the Morrison Government is proposing to immediately hand environmental safeguards to the states while promising to make changes of an ill-defined nature to improve environmental standards in the future. #EPBCActReview#EPBC#auspol https://t.co/rLveMZ9ytE
Behavioural change is fine, but we need rapid systems level change-that can only be delivered by politicians and big business. Which is why people power matters most, to overcome vested interests & drive the change we need.

#FightforPlanetA The land plays a vital role in the carbon cycle, both absorbing greenhouse gases & releasing them into the atmosphere. If we end #deforestation and support restoration, we can make a huge contribution to Australia’s climate fight. @abcnews
@LowmanX Deforestation is the greatest threat to koalas & other animals in Queensland. We need a commitment to strong state & federal deforestation laws. 🐨 🌳
Will you tell the government to stop deforestation? 👉 https://t.co/yTRc0FBoku… #FightForPlanetA@ABCTV@sussanley
@craigreucassel It's mind-boggling to most people when they find out! We’re losing a football-field-sized area of forest & bushland every 2 minutes. Eastern Australia is now a #deforestation hotspot alongside places like the Amazon, Borneo & Congo https://t.co/Ezwj8D1dGv #FightForPlanetA@ABCTV
