Brilliant idea! Next up: Apple randomly reboots your Mac if you're building competing tech, Gmail silently edits your email if you mention rival platforms, and Tesla Autopilot swerves if it detects you're working on self-driving cars.
All in the name of safety, of course. Because malicious actors controlling the world’s operating systems, inboxes and cars would be extremely dangerous!
We just launched Canada’s new AI Strategy: AI For All.
We’re taking control of our future — with AI that’s governed by Canadian values, AI that’s accountable to Canadians, and AI that serves all Canadians.
I'm always looking for informed and reliable AI news and discussion that addresses education sector concerns. Wonderful to see @chronicle launching Jagged Intelligence by @jryoung. Sign up here: https://t.co/tvu3E0PKPp
If the entire tenure and promotion system weren't predicated on churning out a bunch of (mostly?) slop that no one reads, then there would be no incentive to author a bunch of fake AI papers. Academic culture was broken before AI, the chatbots just made this impossible to ignore.
the Pope's new AI encyclical (human dignity more accurately). it's well worth a read. Ch. 2, 3 set the foundation. The impact of AI on culture, work, who we are as humans are needed topics of discussion for anyone (not of a particular belief system) https://t.co/exMO9rpFRe
🖤 It is with profound sadness that we learned of the passing of Professor Karl E. Weick.
One of the most original and influential thinkers of our time, Karl Weick fundamentally changed the way we understand organizations and collective life.
Rest in peace, Professor Weick. 🕯️
Personal update: I've joined Anthropic. I think the next few years at the frontier of LLMs will be especially formative. I am very excited to join the team here and get back to R&D. I remain deeply passionate about education and plan to resume my work on it in time.
Interesting thread. The data centre discussion is full of inaccuracies and opinions. We need a trusted source so informed decisions guide the conversations.
This man is single handedly calling out so much insane disinformation being pushed about data centers by the media right now. No wonder people are so terrified of these things, they’re being promoted hysterical misleading slop about technology all day.
Universities have a challenging future. Mismatch to employment. Too expensive. Tenuous value proposition to students. Increasingly political. And this AI thing. https://t.co/kdnQsFwVdd
College enrollment is falling in America. It's not just the fact that we have fewer young people. In 2016, 70% of American high school grads went to college; by 2022, it was only 62%.
The higher education sector is in big trouble.

There hasn’t been a replacement for peak Twitter. Bluesky hasn’t taken off. Threads has a big base, but nothing seems to happen there. Distributed systems (Mastadon) produces small group conversations. So people are reluctantly on Twitter again.
I’ve spent at least 100 hours setting up, training, and working with @openclaw
Read the docs. Peeked into the source code. Edited config files by hand. Walked friends though their setup.
Then, I wrote down everything I know.
Here it is: The Ultimate 0 > 🦞 Guide
