After watching Argentina’s come back today it made me wish we had 11 guys with Seb’s attitude yesterday. While others fizzled out late, he was doing everything he could to charge up the team and the stadium. I think many fans would agree, it wasn’t that we lost, it’s how we lost
Watching Freese pull that bullshit and blaming the administration for getting Balogun back on the pitch for this game is the most American thing I’ve ever seen. Focused on the entirely wrong things lol
Here’s my negatively charged USMNT post-mortem:
I’ve seen the USMNT crash out of many tournaments but this was the most painful and it will take longer to get over.
The 1st and 3rd goals simply cannot happen at this level. Those mistakes transcend any technical or tactical analysis. For that to happen in the biggest game of these players’ lives…
Of course I can say this in hindsight, but all the noise around the game was UNHELPFUL. I think Balo’s red card was the wrong decision but the momentum behind the team was still at an all time high.
The administration getting involved over something with little material impact on the pitch has turned out to be a disaster, a common occurrence when non-soccer people get involved in soccer. That created the momentum behind a Belgium that were completely out of sync up until that point.
The sheer amount of technical errors in that game on the ball was bizarre, it’s impossible to know the cause but I assume something psychological. Basic actions you’d expect players to execute 9/10 times.
My cynical view is that performance undid a lot of the good about the tournament thus far. It was diabolically bad.
I will be ruminating about this for a while.
🚨Reporter: "With 4 goals and 2 assists in the tournament, you're doing the job of both a goal scorer and a playmaker"
🗣️Jude Bellingham: "The best player of all time has been doing the same for 20 years & he's still the best in the world at 39. I'm nothing special"
FIFA introduced a Round of 32, reduced Ronaldo’s red-card suspension, handed Portugal the softest penalty imaginable, and still had to watch Croatia equalize in stoppage time which they ruled offside.
Absolute robbery to favor Ronaldo. 😭
@PardonMyTake When you first start listening to PMT, you think Hank is the villian, but as you keep going you realize Hank is the lifeblood of the show. His conviction and ability to stand ten toes down is admirable. Dude takes it to the chin with a smile on his face. Love it
The BEE is cooking us now?! Unbelievable honestly. There was so much excitement and anticipation coming into the season following the WBC - at what point do you make changes?
Derek Jeter was a good hitter and a bad defender but his success speaks for itself, sure. However, saying today’s game isn’t MORE ATHLETIC is a ludicrous statement that can’t be said with a straight face with an IQ above 80
THANK YOU!!!!!
Where did the athletic ability go?
Clutch hitting in the 8th and 9th inning?
Starting pitching that goes 8 or 9 innings?
Base stealing-hell just good base running and SPEED?!?
Sac bunts-moving runners over late in a game?
Where’s Tony Gwynn? Rod Carew?
Wade Boggs? Ichiro?
Those guys wouldn’t exist in today’s ridiculous HR or K “launch angle” game!
The game has been dying with the youth of America for YEARS and now is losing the core fanbase as well with this ridiculous product we’ve had to digest for the last 7-10 years.
Bring back Small Ball and athleticism…this shit dreadful!!!
I would be more concerned with this report if it came from a reputable source however regardless this would be a massive mistake. We don’t need a small PG who can’t shoot and doesn’t defend
83 - Chris Richards completed all 83 passes he attempted for the #USMNT against Paraguay, the most passes with a 100 percent accuracy rate by any player in a FIFA World Cup match since 1966.
Perfection.
