Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) MP Inna Hengari said she would prioritise youth employment and skills development following her election to the steering committee of the Global Young MP Initiative.

Hengari, who will represent East and Southern Africa, expressed gratitude to fellow MPs in Namibia and across the region for their support in securing the position.

She highlighted high youth unemployment and limited access to opportunities as key challenges facing the region, noting its large youth population.

Hengari said her focus will be on advocating for job creation, skills training particularly in vocational sectors, and expanding opportunities for young people.

She also emphasised the importance of regional cooperation and knowledge sharing to improve outcomes for youth across East and Southern Africa.

Namibia has approved 10,016 visa applications this month since it required visas from citizens of 32 countries including USA, Canada, the UK and Germany.

Each visa application costs $88 for non-Africans and $65 for Africans.

Namibia imposed visa restrictions for countries that didn't replicate its visa free access for citizens.

I’m going to say something many will disagree with, but I don’t care: the Global South has a unique and unprecedented opportunity to step into the moral space left vacant by the United States and redefine itself as the true custodian of liberal democracy. For too long, power has been equated with geography, and influence with historical dominance. But the world is shifting, and the structures that once seemed immovable are beginning to crack.

This is not an easy undertaking. It will require strategic diplomacy, economic leverage, and intensive groundwork. But it is not impossible. A coalition of powerful nations could emerge, aligning with Europe where interests intersect, yet retaining the autonomy to shape a new global order that reflects the realities of the 21st century. It won’t be all of the Global South, of course, only a few will have both the vision and the means to take on this role, but South Africa is well positioned to be a major player. Its historical experience, democratic foundations, and strategic influence make it an ideal candidate.

Of course, I recognise that I, too, carry cognitive biases that I need to work through to fully define the scope of this vision. We have all been conditioned - whether consciously or not - to see the Global South as subsidiaries, as dependent rather than self-determined, as reacting rather than leading. This is a narrative deeply embedded in global politics, in economic structures, and even in our own minds. But narratives can be rewritten.

The question is: will the Global South seize this moment, or will it allow itself to be relegated to the margins of the world order and history once again?

My heart goes to those children because they are going to be afflicted with childhood psychological trauma that'll disproportionately affect their teenage life and adult life.

These young, fragile, and innocent children are being subjected to the terror and the militarised violence of war. Coupled with enforced displacement and reduced to be IDPs (Internal Displaced People).

As, such there's higher risks that these children will be desensetised to violence, and this can make them susceptible to perpetrate the vicious circle of organised and militarised violence. Whereby the victims become the perpetrators

Unfortunately, even if this conflict and war end,transactional and misleaders such as Tshisekedi will never invest and prioritise clinical psychology and psychological therapy for these innocent children

PLEASE spare a minute to watch this video. It is painful to watch but important.

This is how the people of Eastern DRC live, under the frightening sound of mortars and gunfire above their heads, terrifying and traumatising children and animals.

Tomorrow, African leaders from Southern and Eastern Africa will meet in Tanzania to discuss this crisis and find a solution.
We must all wish them well, hoping wisdom will guide their thoughts.

They must not focus on peripheral issues, which are merely symptoms of the crisis. They must address the root cause, as Presidents Julius Nyerere and Thabo Mbeki often said, and come up with a lasting solution.

The people of Eastern Congo have suffered repeatedly as victims of political persecution, displacement, war, and death, while their natural resources have become magnets for looting and misery.

All this will end if the leaders tackle the root cause of this terrible crisis that has scarred our continent.
We wish them well and hope that they will silence the guns indefinitely.

We love our continent, please give us PEACE so that we can develop our respective countries without fear of being killed✌🏿
